Terms of Service

1. Agreement

Welcome to PaperX (paperx-ai.com). These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and the operator of PaperX. The operator’s registered legal name, unified social credit code, and ICP filing number are those published in the site footer and in the official ICP registry.

By registering, signing in, or using the service, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Refund Policy. If you do not agree, stop using the service.

If you are under 18, a guardian should review these Terms with you. Users under 14 may use the service only if a guardian registers and consents on their behalf.

2. Accounts

You must register or sign in with your own mainland China mobile number and SMS code. Do not use someone else’s number.

Keep your account and verification codes confidential. Notify us through in-product feedback if you suspect unauthorized use.

We may restrict, freeze, or terminate accounts that violate law, infringe rights, seriously breach academic integrity, or harm system security.

3. The service

PaperX provides literature search and reading, writing and continuation, citation management, review assistance, and billing. Features may change.

AI output is research assistance only. It is not an academic finding, legal opinion, or a guarantee of publication.

4. Acceptable use

You must follow PRC law, public order, and your institution’s academic rules. You must not:

• publish illegal content or endanger national security;
• infringe intellectual property or other rights;
• upload malware or attack, scrape, or probe the system without authorization;
• use the service for contract cheating, fabricated data, or to evade institutional AI policies;
• resell or scrape third-party literature without permission;
• abuse billing, refunds, or promotional credit.

5. Generative AI and academic integrity

PaperX is a generative AI application. You are responsible for your inputs, outputs, and any paper derived from them, and for any legally required labeling or disclosure.

Verify every continuation, citation, and metadata record before submission. Open scholarly APIs may be incomplete or wrong.

We do not warrant a specific model, originality for plagiarism checkers, or compliance with your school’s AI policy.

6. Content and IP

You retain rights in your drafts, PDFs, and prompts, and you grant us a non-exclusive license to process them as needed to run and secure the service.

PaperX software, marks, and our original orchestration remain ours or our licensors’. Scholarly records shown via open APIs remain with their rightsholders.

7. Fees and virtual credit

Some features consume cash or bonus credit. Prices and metering are shown at checkout and in billing. Credit is a virtual good delivered when payment succeeds.

Bonus credit may expire. Pricing and routing may change with reasonable notice. Refunds follow the Refund Policy.

8. Changes and termination

Service may be interrupted for maintenance, force majeure, third-party outages, or legal requirements.

You may stop using the service and request account deletion. We will delete or anonymize personal information except where law requires retention.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from network faults, payment or SMS providers, scholarly APIs, or model errors, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence.

Where we are liable for direct loss, our liability is capped at fees you actually paid for the relevant service, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China (excluding conflict-of-law rules).

Disputes shall first be negotiated, then submitted to a competent court at the operator’s domicile.

11. Updates and contact

We may update these Terms on this page and by reasonable notice. Material changes will be highlighted or re-consented as required by law.
